SKY WALKS are mostly planned for Mondays and Wednesdays.
For the SKY WALKS, walk leaders select the locations monthly for where we will meet each week of the upcoming month. SKY always announces the monthly schedule in SKY Tidings newsletter in advance. We will post the locations for the month on this website’s calendar, and it may appear in the Undercurrent’s Events section, although it doesn’t always get included if there are a lot of other events happening.
To simplify the schedule for everyone, we meet at the same spot for the Monday and Wednesday of a week. Often the trails have different paths we can take so we try to add some variety that way. We sometimes break out into 2 groups…those who power walk and/or prefer more challenging terrain, and those who walk more leisurely; as long as we never leave one person on their own!
If walks need to be cancelled on short notice due to inclement weather, we will make every attempt to advise regular walking participants directly via email. Be prepared for the weather and for your own safety.
SKY walks are usually just over a hour. We meet at 10:30am at that week’s disinfected meeting spot, and we start walking promptly at 10:45am. Bring your bottle of water, hiking pole(s) to help with stability, sturdy footwear (no flip flops), hat, sunscreen/bug repellent, and anything else you feel is needed.
All levels of walk abilities welcome from SKY’s perspective however the condition of the trail (which can vary) will dictate ease of accessibility.
As with all of SKY’s in-person activities and events, non-members who are first-time participants will be asked to sign a liability waiver. The group is open to suggestions for new trails to explore. It’s a great way to get exercise, enjoy the outdoors, and keep in touch with friends.
